Zsa Zsa Gabor still critical, unresponsive after surgery
Actress Zsa Zsa Gabor remains in the hospital in critical condition and unresponsive after undergoing hip surgery for a fall in her Bel-Air home, her husband said.
Gabor has had a shaky recovery since having hip surgery Monday at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where she is unable to answer questions and unaware of visitors.
"I'm at her bedside waiting for her to respond," said her husband, Frederic von Anhalt. "She doesn't talk to us, she can't tell us what hurts and what's wrong, so we're just guessing."
The actress broke her right hip Saturday after she fell out of bed while reaching for a ringing telephone at home.
Gabor's husband said it was unclear why her condition was unstable, but that doctors have taken her off morphine out of concern that she was reacting to the painkiller.
"We were hoping [her recovery] was just going to be a few days, but it looks worse than that," Von Anhalt said.
The Hungarian-born actress -- one of three glamorous sisters known for their numerous marriages and glamorous lifestyles -- has appeared in dozens of films since her debut in "Lovely to Look At" in 1952. She played herself in the 1992 comedy "The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear."
