Target store planned for Leimert Park
South Los Angeles might be getting a new Target store.
According to Curbed L.A., a developer is proposing a Target-anchored shopping mall in Leimert Park, not far from the Expo Line.
"Local firm Charles Company, which is developing the project, wants to put up a mall containing a Target, a Ralphs, Marshalls, Dress for Less, and other retailers at the corner of Crenshaw Boulevard and Rodeo Road, just blocks from the famous West Angeles Church of God In Christ," Curbed L.A. reports.
The City Council approved the six-acre development on Friday.
Target is also planning a new store at Sunset Boulevard and Western Avenue in Hollywood. It's a three-level store: There are two levels of parking, and the store is on top.
The lower-level parking will have retail too. There is a total of 458 parking spaces. The store will be 80 feet tall, much taller than what is usually allowed.

I've heard there's also a plan to put a multi-level Target store on the corner of Western & Sunset in Hollywood. Any word on that?

This is fantastic! with the renovation of BH Mall and now Target, if only Trader Joe's would get on board and dare to come serve this community... But they'd rather we drive to Culver City, Westchester or 3rd & LaBrea. If they can put one in Hollywood, they can put on here in Leimert Park. They are missing a great opportunity to further their brand in a deserving and supportive community.
Overall, good to see the commerce coming back into this area.

YES, it is about time. I have lived in the Crenshaw community all of my life. It will be a great opportunity and jobs for our community. We can shop in our on neighborhood instead of having to travel so far out. Maybe Walmart will clean up their store.
