Reward offered in Venice post-prom party killing
Authorities on Wednesday announced a $50,000 reward in the case of a young man who was fatally shot during an after-prom party in Venice.
Michael McGuire, a former Venice High student, was killed and another unidentified man was hurt in the drive-by shooting early on the morning of June 13.
The victims were standing on the sidewalk on Louella Avenue just south of Venice Boulevard around 2 a.m. when a dark-colored sport utility vehicle approached and a gunman opened fire, authorities said.
Los Angeles Police Department detectives have said they have no leads and no motive.
Last month, the victim's father spoke out.
"If you have any type of information, please get ahold of the detectives here,'' Michael McGuire Sr. said, according to City News Service, which attended the news conference. "I just ... my son didn't deserve to go out like this.''
Anyone with information can call the LAPD at (310) 482-6370 or (877) LAPD-24-7.

I am america: You know nothing about this man. He was NOT part of any gang. He was there for a prom party. He was a good kid! How dare you post such a statement. If anybody deserves something it would be you getting you (&^)^&) kicked for saying such a thing about someone you don't even know. You don't deserve the screen name you have selected either. YOU ARE NOT AMERICA You are an ignorant uneducated outcast Go to hell

To: I AM AMERICA You owe this family an apology for your thoughtless and hurtful comments. You couldn't be any further from the truth. The details of this have been posted numerous times. It's apparent you have not read any of them. If you had I would hope to think you never would have made such a statement. A true American would Man Up to this grieving family and express remorse. I hope to see your posting to this matter.

I am America..I hung out with Mikey and his friends and I am a 33 year old teacher. How dare you make comment like that. Mikey was a great fun loving kid that did nothing to harm anyone in his last days. He has taught me many things and I am 10 years older than him. You know nothing about Miracle Mikey and you don't deserve to know his legacy. I just want you to know this he hated gangs and guns. His saying was "I hate guns and I use my hands"...he told all his friends that including my nephews. So go ahead and jump tp conclusion but when one of your loved one days and people jump to conclusion about who they were lets see how you feel. 77 And to make it clear to you he didnt want to go to that party he was there to look over his bro and friends.
