Rancho Palos Verdes cliff death is suspected suicide, authorities say

A woman whose body was found Sunday afternoon at the base of an oceanside cliff in Rancho Palos Verdes apparently jumped to her death, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

The woman was identified as 39-year-old Julianna Rolle of Rancho Palos Verdes, said Lt. Cheryl MacWillie of the coroner's office. An autopsy is pending tomorrow.

The woman's body was found about 2:50 p.m. Sunday at the bottom of the cliff near 6500 Sea Cove Drive. She had fallen 120 feet, MacWillie said.

Though her death has been ruled a suicide by the coroner's office, the L.A. County Sheriff's homicide bureau is investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
