Rise in nudity in L.A.? Blame it on Nude Recreation Week

July 16, 2010 | 11:09 am

Nude Recreation Week? After LAist reported on the recent rise of nudity in L.A., they uncovered a possible explanation:

July 5th through 11th was Nude Recreation Week. Who knew?! Perhaps that's why there has been a random rash of nudeness recently … And if you were taking Amtrak or Metrolink last Saturday, you may have been mooned.

Old Spice man has a message: The hunky new Old Spice man has a message for the Times' Adam Tschorn, and all of Los Angeles. It turns out he has been recording a lot of personal messages lately. From All The Rage:

And I was far from the only one to get a musing from Mustafa; it turns out the actor is currently in the studio in Portland, Ore., with the Wieden+Kennedy folks (who created the original, award-winning spot) taping a bunch of these short, personalized clips -- most of them in response to Twitter posts or comments left at the Old Spice YouTube channel.

Kogi has a new car: Kogi, the famed Korean barbecue truck, has apparently teamed up with Scion to produce the food "truck" of the future. Except that it's not a truck, it's an awesome hatchback with a full mobile kitchen. Blogging L.A. has the story:

Chef Roy will be jetting around town in Nino soon to find “hungry people” and feed them. What sorts of hungry people? “Just anyone,” he said. “I’ll just drive, see where I end up, pull over, and just start making food.”

Trouble at the probation department: Witness L.A. has an investigation showing more problems at the troubled L.A. County Probation Department:

Although the arrests did not lead to convictions, in five other instances the officer was the object of complaints of child abuse and child sexual abuse made to the San Bernardino DCFS (Department of Family and Children Services.)
