Police fatally shot a man in the San Fernando Valley early Friday morning after responding to a domestic-violence call, authorities said.

LAPD officers from the Foothill Division went to the 11900 block of Phillippi Avenue in Pacoima at about 12:40 a.m., when the shooting occurred, said Officer Sara Faden, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department.

No details were available on why police fired at the man, whose name was not released. Police believe the suspect was armed, Faden said.

Detectives are investigating the incident.
