Lindsay Lohan to serve 14 days of 90-day jail sentence, according to Sheriff's Department document [Updated]
Until now, Sheriff's Department officials have said they were not sure how many days Lohan would spend behind bars. Even though the judge called for 90 days, overcrowding in the jail typically means that inmates only serve 25% of their sentences, sometimes less.
The booking document lists Aug. 2 as the "projected release date." A Sheriff's Department spokesman could not immediately reached for comment. It's possible Lohan could serve more time because judge ruled out work release or electronic monitoring in the probation-violation case.
[Updated at 3:10 p.m.: Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said Lohan could possibly serve only 13 days in jail instead of 14.
"Her projected release date is Aug. 1 or Aug. 2," he said, explaining that information initially posted on the sheriff's inmate information website was based on one 30-day sentence because a clerk missed Lohan's other two 30-day sentences.
The website was changed to reflect Lohan serving 51 days after factoring in time for good behavior. As a nonviolent female inmate, Lohan is eligible to serve only about 25% of the 51 days because of overcrowding, which brings the final figure to 13 or 14 days, Whitmore said.]
Officials said Lohan was completely cooperative when she was booked into the Century Regional Detention Facility on Tuesday morning.
After the booking, Lohan entered the jail's triage, where she was to receive a standard medical and psychological evaluation, Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore told media members gathered outside the jail.
State guidelines for handling prisoners would apply to the actress, although "people with notoriety are kept away" from the general jail population for security purposes, he said.
"She is scared, as anyone would be, but she is resolute," Holley said. "She asks for prayers and support. ... She has accepted responsibility."
Although earlier there had been confusion over which attorney would represent Lohan in court, Holley said Robert Shapiro, who at one point had said he was Lohan's new attorney, was only a consultant to the actress.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Judge Marsha Revel last month sentenced Lohan to 90 days in jail for violating probation on a drunk-driving conviction.
Deputy Dist. Atty, Danette Meyers, who prosecuted Lohan, said the sentence was "was appropriate in this case."
"The message to the public is don't drink and drive," she said. "If you do drink and drive, and you're punished for it, complete the programs."

haha. Overcrowding is their excuse. Yeah, cause we're filling our prisons with Blacks and Mexicans (some of whom aren't even guilty) simply for tax dollars, while we let celebs and rich jerks off the hook. Maybe its time we really go democratic and give everyone a chance at a dirty, gray prison cell, whether you're poor, rich, black or white, a clerk or an actress

Just a short vacation for a person that abuses the regulations of society. She should do all 90 days. She as others will not be effected by this short inconvenience.

what a joke...they should all be ashamed of themselves

Geez...I'm now thinking that drinking and driving will get you 2 weeks in a womans non violent prison...

L.A. County is so crowded the avg. time served for a non violent 90 day sentence is less than 14 days believe it or not... 25% in LA is the short end of the stick.. Non violent non gang members normally do 10-20%.. She didn't get ANY special treatment it sucks but its true.. She is not likely to hurt anyone and her serving an extra week or two will only cost tax payers more money...

It's ok to drink and drive and use cocaine if you are a celebrity. Slapped on the hand, do 13 days in jail vs. 90 days. But beware if you are a poor down and out person without money. You will get the full 90 days and you will do your time with the general population. This is our judicical system in America. It's no wonder why so many people like Lohan, Hilton, Gibson and on and on do what they do.

How does serving 25% of a 90 day incarceration equate to 14 days? Who's math is this? I came up with 22.5 days. It is no wonder are penal system is so screwed up!

While all the Southern California cops, media, and gazillions of dollars were spent on this charade a beautiful 17 year old school girl WAS FOUND BRUTALLY SLAUGHTERED and left for the desert buzzards!

What a joke!!! Lets all go out drive drunk, do drugs and make a mockery of the justice system... Maybe we will get lucky and only get 14 days. Funny how justice goes for a celebrity as opposed to the average citizen. Shame on the legal system, and shame on the judge for allowing it to get this out of hand.

Why bother then all these nfl stars actors singers etc.... breaking the law and serving minimal time is sad.....i know if i did a quarter of the things she did i would be in jail for more than 30 days of a 90 day sentence

Los Angeles, If you are a once was celebrity, a has been sport athlete, or a once was child actor you can get away with anything, this is the usual Has Been sentence and we will see, served time sentence.

I love you lindsy stay safe and strong. My prayers are with you baby..

Lindsay better take advantage of her time in jail and read some really good self help books or something. If she doesn't get her head screwed on straight in the next year or so, she could end up being a washed up, drugged out, scraggly looking "C list" actress.
Lindsay ought to get away from the party 24/7 crowd that has been holding her back. Her "party crowd friends" subconsciously probably WANT to see Lindsay fail in her career because they know they don't have any show business talent like Lindsay does. A bunch of them just have money to party with because of their daddy or whatever.

The system is in check with Lindsay. 2 weeks in jail is enough. She's been naughty and needs time out to dry out. I think she will grow up and be a better person than Jane Fonda.

A family member was charged with a first offense DUI last month. He has no criminal record and will probably get a fine and a few classes. Even if you test pretty high on the machine, it's generally 4 days in jail, at most.
In addition, DMV will suspend your license for 4 months because it's a first offense. If you can prove you are taking alcohol ed classes, they may grant a "restricted" license for you to go to and from work and to and from the alcohol classes or they may not. It depends on how you present your case.
By contrast, this LA Judge gave LL 30 days for the first DUI and then tacked on another 60 days for the 2nd one and for violating probation.
Whether you like LL or not, this is NOT a standard sentence for a first offense misdemeanor. Again, not saying I support what she did but she's not public enemy #1, just her OWN worst enemy.

flash..............she was 10 minutes late! in your face judge. by the way who is the judge?
Posted by: kuruc | July 20, 2010 at 10:44 PM
The judge could have ordered Lindsay to report to one of the "pay to stay" jails such as Burbank or Glendale.
You pay about $90 a day, and they are nicer
but you have to serve your whole sentence, or a majority of it because they don't have an overcrowding problem the way the L.A. County jails do.
A friend of mine who received a 4 day sentence for a DUI was not allowed to serve his jail sentence at any L.A. County jail per the judge's orders, to make sure he served the full 4 day sentence.
My friend had wanted to go to the County jail even though it is a lot worse, because he knew he would only serve a day there, if that.
So too bad this judge didn't specify that Lindsay could not serve her sentence at an L.A. County jail,
that would have been the only way to make sure she served a majority of the sentence.

Regardless of the sentence, this won't improve Lohan's behavior as I've heard enough of the talks on "Larry King Live." She needs to pull herself together while in prison. I'm sure she hates the one thing that comes to her mind: REHAB. She might make several lying excuses as usual while visiting the place on a few occasions rather than as handed down by the judge herself. The LAPD has become a laughing stock after the Paris Hilton episode. Let's hope that the dept. won't pull another "early release" stunt. This should be a lesson learned over & over. Are you listening & reading, Mel Gibson?

We are punishing these people who commits DUI the wrong way and it is costly.
First it is a serious offense. The ideal punishment must be that the drivers license is gone. Second the fine must be income based. In Scandinavia the IRS tell the court how much money people are making and then they lose a full months pay. Rich or poor - it will be a severe sentence. The prisons are not the right place to let them serve their time. By committing the offense they have made the roads unsafe for the citizens. We as community has lost something. A mandatory number of hours picking up trash along the roads will be the proper punishment, so they can give something back to the society.
Then there are the question of alcoholism. We know that a lot of the firms providing these classes fake their records and cash in the money. It was because Lohan was Lohan that it was discovered in her case. The value of the alcohol education is something we must question. But if people want their license back they must DECIDE to take them. We should not force people. They should be allowed to choose to walk or having someone to drive them.
Forced treatment is expensive and would not work in 90 percent of the cases. Persons like Lohan with a long history of medication which she should deal with BEFORE taking on alcohol treatment have no or little chance of getting sober on the long term.
Punish them with everything else than treatment and then ban them from driving until they WANT to take the classes. If they never want to drive again it is fine. Then the roads will be safe.
And just a final precausion. Several states mandate a device people have to breathe into to get the car going. Make it a law here too.

Rich and priviledge gets off and struggling working class individuals get the brunt of the legal system. As any industrialized country in the world we have the highest prisoner population in the world (minorities comprising of most inmates and offenders) and send the violent and real criminals to jail and give those who ginuinely make mistakes some benefit of the doubt (pot smokers, petty thieves and so forth) but make a point to those who think they are above the law like Lohan.
