Lohan says fingernail expletive was a joke, not a jab at judge

Lindsay Lohan in courtActress Lindsay Lohan wrote Wednesday that an expletive visible on her fingernail during the court hearing where she got 90 days in jail was a joke unrelated to the Beverly Hills case.

Lohan wrote on her Twitter account that the vulgarity on her middle fingernail "had nothing to do w/court. It's an airbrush design from a stencil xx."

As the actress told Judge Marsha N. Revel on Tuesday that she was taking the probation violation seriously, the expletive was captured by the courtroom photographer. It raised questions about the message she was sending.

In a series of Twitter messages, Lohan also wrote about "cruel and inhuman punishment," quoting from the United Nations Declaration on Human Rights. She also linked to a Newsweek story about the stoning of an Iranian woman.

The fingernail was visible as Lohan wiped tears from her eyes during a last-ditch attempt to avoid jail after the judge decided the actress had violated her probation by failing to attend weekly alcohol education classes. Lohan's probation stems from a conviction for driving under the influence following two DUI incidents in 2007 during which she also tested positive for cocaine.

Lohan must surrender July 20.

The joke is that she's in her mid twenties and looks like a forty five year old trying to look like a thirty five year old.

Somebody reliable should look at this girl before she leaves the house everyday and make her leave the crazy/idiotic at home. But I guess she's been getting away with it for this long, only crashing badly will make her change.

@ Martin! Seriously dude. Judge over reacting? What are you smoking?
Come on! SHE HAS trashed her life and like anyone else she needs to grow up and take responsibility for her life. Seriously!

So, uh, Martin are you condoning drunk driving? Just because she is a someone doesn't mean she should have her way with the law and get away with wrong doing. She is irresponsible, immature, and finally needed this as a wake up call. You should see how many people lose family members (Moms, Dads, children) due to drunk driving. 90 days? Hahahaha that is such a slap on the wrist for what she has done. If you like her so much, then you should only hope this helps her clean her act up before she kills someone.

I can't believe we let people like her into our country...

For an actress, she showed stunningly bad timing for a joke.

One's level of denial is in direct proportion to the amount of inner turmoil one is experiencing. Beyond severe denial is delusion.

Ms. Lohan has now entered the realm of delusion.

You are right Martin,

She should be strong and next time she drives drunk I hope it is you on her way, not some innocent passerby.

Thank you judge for stopping this potential killing machine.

The BP oil spill is killing the Mexican Gulf, Obama is misguidedly suing Arizona, and this nimrod Lindsay Lohan story is what's taking center stage on the news outlets??? God help this America...

She's gotta grow up sometime...24 and she acts like 13...

wow.. this is all being played out in a public manner and her family is dysfunctional... she really needs help.. stop bashing her

I don't think any laws will be passed forbidding reports about her or Paris Hilton. I'm sure, though, that there are no laws that force you to read said reporting.

Oh, My God, FREE LINDSAY. We must, absolutely must free this woman from, gosh, jail and, wowwie, drug rehab. Seriously, hey girl, get your life together before it is completely in the tank. Judge did the right thing....shoulda done it a long time ago. Anyone else would have been in jail for a long time. And, Lindsay baby, you look like your'e 35 years old. Booze and drugs take their toll kiddo. Smarten up, if that is possible.

High time a judge stopped the 'Ooh, they're a celebrity, so I'll let them off light' routine. This spoiled, pampered, delusional little brat just got a wake-up call. Jail just might be the one thing that saves her life so that we don't all have to sit through six months of tabloid interviews with her so-called parents listening to 'oh, if only someone had done something to save her', while crying their crocodile tears.

Don't feel sorry for her at all ! Spooled, previledged(at least in her mind)and obviously believes that for some reason she is entitiled to do what ever she wants.WElcome to the real world Lohan.Boo hoo sweetie. If you can't do the time don't do the crime!!!!!!

That Lindsay calls her middle finger expletive a joke and not a jab at the judge does not surprise me. Driving under the influence is no doubt a joke to her as well. Instead of realizing that her behavior is harmful and potentially deadly to others, Lindsay seems to believe that she is entitled to put others in harm's way. Isn't it time for Lindsay to own up to her own wrong doing? I'm getting tired of the media's focus on poor Lindsay, a woman who wastes away her life with drugs and alcohol. DUI is a deadly threat to society. While the media and her movie star supporters only care about poor Lindsay and we hope she gets clean to promote poor Lindsay, the judge needs to protect society and people on the road from an irresponsible woman who does not care who she hurts. In addition to increases in domestic violence and traffic violations, more than half of all homicides involve alcohol. Lindsay's joker behavior has become a deadly and violent danger to society and needs to be stopped.

"Be strong Lindsay, even this shall pass and your star will forever shine"! You sure can fool some of the people all of the time.

The LA Times needs to report on what this is really all about - a self-absorbed, spoiled, undeservingly wealthy young adult who feels she does not need to be fully accountable to society, or the rule of law.

Throw her rear-end in jail like the average working class folks and fine the he// out of her for disobeying and wasting the time of the court, police, probation office, and the justice system. No sympathy - no breaks; make her pay the full price for her behavior.

lindsay lindsay lindsay when are u going to learn that you dont mess with the court system? you should pray to god or whoever that you got what u got and take it with a smile and count your lucky stars that you have a nice life . anyone else would have not had the luck that u have and learn from your mistakes like everyone else on this planet. alex a

She thinks she has the right to drive drunk, possess cocaine, and diss her probation terms? Why?

Does she think it's cruel and unusual punishment for other people to go to jail for drunk driving, or just in her case? Why?

How would she feel if a drunk driver harmed someone she loves? Would she still think punishment was cruel and barbaric, or would that be different?

Does she think the world doesn't realize that actresses can cry on cue?

Dear Lindsay
Make it fun, you'll be out in no time. 20 days. Unreal Genius

All of you reporters writing these stories on Lindsay Lohan and alleged "secret messages" must be over 30 and disconnected from the world around you. Are you all serious?

What you should be reporting on is the more harsh sentence Lindsay Lohan is getting compared to other defendants in these types of cases but that would mean you would have to act like real reporters and journalists and editors.

I will bet she won't even do a week (7 days )in total,in jail.

I read something yesterday about the court being able to modify her sentence when she surrenders later this month. Something about a probation report. Article said judge could either reduce or add time to the sentence. If that is true, then Lindybop (and her attorney) best keep their respective flaps shut. Judges read the papers. Plus, this judge is hip to TMZ.

Really Martin @ 11:02 - you are also delusional.

Wants needs to happen to her is to have the movie industry blackball her. These little snots think they can do anything they want and it's okay. They can take Paris, Nicole, Martin Sheen, Brittany, Mel Gibson and many others with her.

The over ego(ed) film industry would be better off without them.
