Crews battle brush fire in Ventura County [Updated]

Out of Control Fire Threatening Homes in Ventura Co.Firefighters were battling a brush fire that broke out Tuesday afternoon in Ventura County.

Arriving units reported that about 45 acres appeared to be burning near the 101 Freeway in Camarillo, the Ventura County Fire Department said.

The blaze was reported about 3:15 p.m., the department said.

It was unclear whether any structures were threatened by the flames.

[Updated at 3:40 p.m.: Fire engines have been dispatched to protect structures that were being threatened by advancing flames, and officials have called for air strikes to battle the blaze burning near Ocean View Drive, the Fire Department said.]
