Small brush near Dodger Stadium is contained [Updated]

A small brush fire is burning north of Chinatown near Dodger Stadium, authorities said.

Devin Gales of the Los Angeles Fire Department said emergency crews are on their way to the fire near the southbound 110 Freeway at Hill Street.

According to an alert from fire officials, no structures or people are threatened.

[Updated at 7:10 p.m.: Two lanes of traffic on the southbound 110 Freeway were closed briefly while firefighters battled the blaze.

Gales said crews used helicopters -- called in because the fire was burning in terrain difficult for fire trucks to access -- to drop water on the flames.

The blaze, which began about 6 p.m. and reached 3 acres, was contained in about an hour by 69 firefighters, Gales said.]
