Boy killed in apparent hit-and-run accident in South L.A. [Updated]

Me.accidentLos Angeles police on Thursday were investigating an apparent hit-and-run accident that left a 10-year-old boy dead in South Los Angeles. 

The boy was struck about 2:30 p.m. at 76th and Hoover streets in the Vermont Knolls neighborhood, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

A description of the vehicle had not been released Thursday night. 

No other details were available.

[Updated at 11:01 p..m.: The LAPD identified the boy as Natanael Garcia and now say that he was 11 years old. The suspect's vehicle is described as a black or dark blue sport utility vehicle with tan trim and stock wheels.]
