Family flees to Mexico, leaves boy with body of dead sister, police say

Bakersfield police Monday were searching for a family suspected of fleeing to Mexico after leaving a 4-year-old boy in their home with the body of his dead 3-year-old sister. Bakersfield police seek Alberto and Carla Garcia.

Officers arrived at the home Sunday after receiving a report of a dead child and discovered the boy sleeping in the residence and the body of the 3-year-old, the Bakersfield Police Department said. The girl's body showed signs of trauma, police said.

Police said the children had been under the custody of their uncle, Alberto Garcia, and his wife, Carla Mariela Garcia, both 26. The Garcias had left the home with their three biological children, ages 4 through 10.

The family is believed to have left for Mexico, according to Sgt. Mary DeGeare, who said detectives were working with prosecutors and the FBI to apprehend the Garcias. The couple is wanted for alleged felony child endangerment and questioning in the death of the 3-year-old, DeGeare said.

The family vehicle is described as a white Ford Eddie Bauer Expedition, license plate number 5FLC681, with 17-inch rims. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (661) 327-7111.

Oh that poor little angel. She did not deserve that at all. I guess Mexico is good enough for them now huh.

When something bad goes wrong, you can always flee to Mexico!

Any info on this couple's residency status?

another fine contribution from our illegal immigrant friends

Disgusting trash they are.
And to think they have children of their own.

They will get theirs.

Yeah...we need more Mexicans in the US. Without them how else would we provide gainful employment to thousands of cops and prison guards.

Love the HUGE assumption these days that if people have Hispanic surnames they MUST be "illegals". It's making me ashamed to be white, anglo U.S. born.

These criminals need to get caught to pay for what their crime. I am sure that with a compensation their own family members in Mexico can turn them in.

If we're lucky, these scumbag caretakers will become victims of drug trafficking violence south of the border. Death is too good for them.

Wow Mr. Tom from Long Beach, I am sure glad you are ready to comment on their legal status event hough the article says nothing of it, the article is about a child that lost their life you twit.

I wonder what the comments would look like if the family surname was Graham?

The racism of the "City of Angels" is really disgusting at times.

Thank you Priscilla and Monica -- well-stated!

'17-inch rims'?? All I can say is ghetto!

Why is every brown people have to be Mexican. White people can be so ignorant.
I’m American/Mexican and I very proud of that but this is not a race issue this is about a 3 year girl laying there dead with her 4 year old brother left behind and nobody around to help this is very sad and cruel. I hope they find these MF…………….
These SOB deserve to bleep, bleep and go to hell that being said, don’t think that white people haven’t done sh!t like this too! There are stupid people in all races.

AS AN FYI just because you are brown and speak Spanish does not me that they have to be Mexican.

Regardless of residency, they had their first biological kid when they were both just 16. Legal or not, it's probably safe to assume that they don't live in the best part of the neighborhood or have a higher education. So, yes, as educated, elitist folk, we judge. No sugarcoating it. We assume the worst of these people based on their gleaned history and their chosen actions surrounding the death of this innocent little girl.

No excuses, just the cold truth. They're probably not people I'd want to invite to my next cocktail party, for sure. I do want an update though, what's happened to the boy that was found with her? Where is he? Is he being taken care of?

unbelievable! These animals should be brought to justice!!!! an eye for an eye...

I would have done anything to protect those children regardless of race.
