Authorities in Inland Empire looking for two missing persons

July 28, 2010 | 11:01 am

Authorities in San Bernardino and Riverside counties on Wednesday said they are looking for two missing persons who recently vanished under mysterious circumstances.

Jan Heyes, 56, of Big Bear Valley was reported missing by her husband on July 21. The husband told San Bernardino County Sheriff’s investigators that the couple was having marital problems, and she told him she was leaving him on July 18. She left their house in her 2005 black Jeep Grand Cherokee and has not been seen since.

Heyes has not contacted any family or friends since she left, and detectives said there has been no activity on her bank account. Sheriff’s officials are searching the mountain area for her car in patrol cars and with an air patrol. Anyone with knowledge of Heyes' whereabouts is asked to call Det. Gregg Carpenter at the Big Bear Station at (909) 866-0100.

In Riverside, police are looking for Donald William Tobin, 52, who has been missing since July 8. He was last seen driving a 2007 silver Toyota Corolla, which was later recovered. His whereabouts are unknown. Anyone with information about Tobin is asked to call the Riverside Police Department.
