Yorba Linda passes measure supporting Arizona illegal immigration law [Updated]

The Yorba Linda City Council approved a resolution this week supporting Arizona’s illegal-immigration law, making it what is believed to be the first city in California to approve a measure supporting the legislation.

The resolution approved Tuesday on a 3-0 vote also calls on the federal government to secure the national borders, said Mayor John Anderson, who sponsored it.

The council meeting was attended by several dozen people, many of whom spoke on the issue. The Arizona law says police may check the status of people they have stopped for another reason and reasonably suspect are illegal immigrants, according to the Arizona Legislature's website.

“It’s a statement to ask the federal government to enforce the laws,” Anderson said Friday. “This isn’t in response to anyone but Arizona and the problem we commonly share.”

In Riverside County, the Hemet City Council last month asked its city manager to draft a similar resolution, to be voted on within the month. On the other side of the issue, the Los Angeles City Council and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors have voted to boycott Arizona and ban official travel to the state to protest the law.

Voting with Anderson were Councilwoman Nancy Rikel and Councilman Mark Schwing. Councilwoman Jan Horton left before the issue came up late Tuesday to attend to a personal emergency.

Councilman Jim Winder walked out of the meeting when the issue came up, saying it was a waste of time and had nothing to do with Yorba Linda city government.

Apparently we have our own little enclave of bigotry and hate right here..those who have taken the term "the Southland" a bit too literally. These folk evidently need to pretend that this is about "border security", when it's obviously about something else entirely. If they or their hangers-on were serious about stopping illegal workers, they would first and foremost be raising a stink about the huge corporations (growers, meat processers, etc) who thumb their noses at the present laws and actively recruit, bus in and hire illegal workers as their slave labor! If there was no one hiring, then no one would come here. This Arizona "law" is nothing more than a modern day extension of Jim Crow, applied to those of Latino heritage, instead. It's one step away from the type of tyranny that begins with the sentence, "Show me your papers." and ends with "Heil.."! Let's see just how many native born citizens of Latino heritage get harrassed..already that's happening! At least be honest, people!

Here is a story and tell me how true it is. There was a man name JOE he is a white American loves his country even has a american flag outside his house. One day he needs his roof re done he look in the white pages finds a ad BOB's Roofing it read family own for 30 years state licence and insured. He calls Bob to give him a quote bob tells him 10000.00. Joe is surprised he recalls his neighbor telling him he got his done for 6000.00. Joe then talks to his neighbor Bill which gives him a number and a name Jose. He calls Jose and jose comes down and tell him 6000.00 and it will done in 2 days.
Joe looks at his wallet and thinks real hard that's a 4000.00 dollars savings I can get a new LCD and Blueray dvd (witch are built in China which is another reason why this country is closing so many factory down we don't buy American products anymore) He goes with Jose knowing that hose is not licence or has insurance and will have illegal workers. But as long as Joe saves money its all good to him. And the best part of this story is even if you would have gone with BOB high chance bobs workers are illegal and Bob has replaces his American employees to illegal that he can pay at 8 dollars a hour.

NOBODY complains about anyone coming into our country LEGALLY!!! What is there about ILLEGALLY that is not understood? I see many Hispanic surnames posting positive comments regarding the Council's resolution. Kudos to my fellow Hispanics for showing reason and common sense in the face of stark liberal fanaticism.
Being a resident of the beautiful City of Yorba Linda, I've personally met all three of those council members. They are not white supremacists. They are not racists. They are not haters. Like many of the residents of my town, they are decent, moral family oriented citizens of the community, state and country. They understand the importance of obeying, upholding and enforcing local, state and federal laws.

As for the posters who believe Yorba Linda is a town of just whites, guess again. The demographics of Yorba Linda closely mirror the demographics of the nation as a whole. What we do seem to have is a disproportionate number churches! That should not surprise anyone. Strong sense of faith. Strong moral values. Strong sense of family. Strong sense of community.
