Two men killed in separate shootings in South Los Angeles

Two men were killed Thursday in separate shootings in the Florence-Firestone neighborhood of South Los Angeles, authorities said Friday.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a shooting in the 1400 block of East 99th Street about 9:40 p.m. Thursday and found a man's body, said L.A. County Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Pope said in a statement.

About 15 minutes later, another man was shot to death in the 2000 block of East 76th Place, less than three miles away.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. It was not known whether the two incidents were related. No other information was given.
