Parents brawl at kindergarten graduation; officials lock down campus
A kindergarten graduation ceremony at a Victorville elementary school turned ugly Wednesday when several parents got into a fight, causing authorities to place the campus on lockdown.
The incident occurred at Puesta del Sol Elementary School, with officials saying a verbal altercation between two parents turned physical.
“According to witness statements, it appears a few parents went over to a field away from the actual ceremony to discuss something when the alleged fight broke out,” Karen Hunt, spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Victorville station, told the Victorville Daily Press.
No arrests were made, and no one was hurt in the incident, but the school's principal sent a letter home to parents banning them from the campus.
"No parents will be allowed on campus for end of the year activities," said the letter, which was obtained by KCBS Channel 2. "We apologize for this, however we must maintain a closed campus to avoid further incidents."

THis is why California has such high crime rates. Parents teaching kids their criminal lifestyle. Theses parents should be investigated by child protective services.

These are people that probably voted for Obama and were arguing the merits of McChristal being fired.

Maybe the parents NEED to go into the school so they can learn the rules...

What are you willing to bet that these are parents that exhibit certain behaviors around their children that contribute to these types of incidents?

Even worse is the school overreacting. Because of couple of parents your going to deprive everyone else of the activities associated with the end of the school year?

Victorville failed kindergarten.
Typical.

I missed the part where the ethnicity of the parents was mentioned in the article. I see there are several comments referring to resident status. I see responsible parents of all ethnic strata. I see responsible parents of all ethnic strata. I'm hoping that mature adult readers of this newspaper do not assume that non legal residents are automatically to blame.

Yep, seems these parents nowadays behave worse than their kids do! What a bunch of losers!

At some point, in order to avoid crime & poverty, we have to figure out a way to intervene in these families where the parents are complete morons. We are a nation that is increasingly breeding idiots, and that doesn't bode well for us all. Whether Left or Right, it makes no sense to take money away from education and EFFECTIVE social services, when we should be investing in the next generation of kids...and not just our own. Personally, I hate to pay for repairing the
damage I didn't create, but I prefer to invest in the front end - an educated and productive generation - than pay for the back end: housing, feeding, providing free medical, etc., etc., etc., to criminals for the rest of their lives.

Nice overreaction! Two parents get into a fight, so now *all* parents are banned from campus? What kind of logic is that?
Posted by: MartyK | June 24, 2010 at 09:37 AM
A bunch of illegals fighting over the free education their children reap and we pay for...

At least they took it "outside". Ignorant is not understanding the whole situation, reading 3 senteces on it and passing judgement. What's wrong with america isn't the "illegals" its the prejudice. We judge EVERYTHING. And getting into a fight has nothing to do with how great or bad of a parent you are. Lions maul other lions all the time but that doesn't mean they'll kill their cubs.

This is why there should be no graduation ceremonies until high school.

Multi-ethnic fun !
Dont be so judgemental.

How ghetto is that? What a way to be a role model for your children, I feel sorry for the kids who have to see their parents act this way, this is ugly and a horrible way to live, these are the people that cut you off driving, look angry at the stores and contribute to the violence we hear of everyday, it's probably the same parents that get into an argument at Toy's R Us for the last toy. Sooo Ghetto, and nasty. Too bad for the kids.

Makes you wonder: how can you tell which are the children and which are 'supposed' to be the parents?
