O.C. mother booked in child beating, starvation case

Cheryl StuartA Santa Ana mother has been booked on suspicion of beating, starving and tying up her two small children so that she could sleep better at night, police said Thursday.

Cheryl Ann Stuart was arrested Wednesday night after police responded to a call from her landlord and found her two emaciated boys, ages 2 and 5, with bruises across their bodies, swollen limbs and bumps on their heads, the Santa Ana Police Department said.

Stuart had been renting a room at a home in the 1400 block of North Parsons Place.

"She admitted that she had been striking the children, but she didn't think she was hitting them that hard," Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

Stuart had tied the children to their crib and bed with ace bandages and shoelaces so "she could sleep well" and not worry about them running around, according to Bertagna.

Stuart was being held at the Santa Ana jail in lieu of $100,000 bail and was booked on charges of willful cruelty to a child with possible injury or death and inflicting injury upon a child, police said.

Detectives are investigating the case and will forward their findings to the Orange County district attorney.

Evil, evil woman. I hope she suffers far worse than those sweet little boys have.
Funny, she doesn't look starved at all.

I wonder how long this went undetected? If she's renting a room...?

She looks like Fergie. Lock her up and throw away the key.

Even if she's convicted of child abuse, nothing will happen to this woman. Here's my prediction: 1) she blames her actions on abuse in her past (no doubt at the hands of an evil white male), 2) she gets a plea deal for probation from the OC D.A.'s office, and 3) she ends up killing one of her kids within the next ten years. Who knows, if she plays the I-was-abused-card astutely enough, maybe UC-Berkeley will give her an honorary doctorate in women's studies.

It is so sad how poorly some people treat children. Raising children is tough with alot of personal sacrifice. If you don't feel up to it, just keep your legs closed. It is sad that you must take a test to drive a car, but any idiot can procreate.

TrueFreedom writes: "It is sad that you must take a test to drive a car, but any idiot can procreate."

Oh, so you want the state to license procreation like it does driving a car? What would you do with unlicensed procreators, subject them to mandatory abortion? Your thinking runs counter to the spirit of your name, TrueFreedom.

ell what do you want, TrueFreedom, state licensing of who can procreate with mandatory abortion for unlicensed procreation>

well it seems white people are not a rightous as they like to think, let's see how they will blame this on "illegals"

Why even have kids if you're going to treat them like that. It makes me angry! She'll have to be in protective custody in prison. If not she'll "reap her just deserts."

she looks Russian...check her papers...deport her...

it was not only her..there is more to this...y didn't landlord say anything about your boyfriend that the brusie was from him..he is one that tied kids up not her..he will be charge also. there is more to this...

Zero Tolerance for Child Abuse!

Why has this become a race issue? This is a human issue. This is an issue of a woman's lack of compassion and love for her children.

She is a selfish woman. She is a monster. Race has nothing to do with it. If SHE plays a race card, that shows even more that she's unstable. I don't care who did what to you. As a parent you love and protect your children at all costs.

I don't care how she became the monster she became, I just care about the children.

I care that her priorities are completely tainted.

Get your priorities correct people.

now maybe she'll sleep well

I'm grateful they found these kids before they were killed in a rage....I hope she never gets them back and they find loving homes that can help them deal with the trauma they have had to deal with so early in life...

If she moves to Arizona she has nothing to worry about...
