A 35-year-old man was wounded in a shooting near the USC campus Wednesday afternoon, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

The shooting occurred shortly before 5 p.m. near Exposition Boulevard and Budlong Avenue, which is less than half a mile from the USC campus, said LAPD Officer Gregory Baek.

The victim, whose name was not released, was shot in the leg and taken to a hospital, Baek said, adding that the man was expected to survive.
