Coroner's officials reported 14 killings between May 31 and early Monday, bringing the year-to-date total to 302, according to data collected for The Times' Homicide Report database. Countywide homicide rates still remain lower than in previous years: There were 336 killings during the same period last year and 408 in 2007.

Authorities have said that at least three homicides were stabbings, including the June 2 death of Herbert Wong, 30, a porn performer who was attacked late the previous night by a fellow performer at a video distribution business in Van Nuys.

Four days after Wong's death, his alleged attacker, Stephen Hill, 34, apparently threw himself over a cliff following an eight-hour standoff with police, a fatal plunge that was captured by news cameras covering the incident.

A day after Wong's death, Jeanette Moran-Alvarado was stabbed to death in Westlake, allegedly by her boyfriend.

LAPD Rampart Area patrol officers responded to a call of a man harassing a woman about 8:30 p.m., according to an LAPD news release.

When police arrived at the location, they found Alvarado lying in the road bleeding, authorities said.

Paramedics were called, and Alvarado was taken to County-USC Medical Center, where she died at 9:15 p.m., according to coroner's records.

Through several tips and leads, officers detained Simon Vega, a 26-year-old Latino, on June 4 in connection with Alvarado's killing.

On June 5, Michael Silva, 39, was found in his driveway in Canoga Park suffering from several stab wounds.

Topanga Area patrol officers responded to a 911 call described as "unknown trouble" at the residence about 2 a.m., according to an LAPD news release.

When officers arrived, they discovered Silva lying unconscious in the driveway with multiple stab wounds to his body, police said.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics were called, and they pronounced Silva dead at the scene, according to coroner's records. There have been no arrests made in connection with his death.

The Times' Homicide Report provides an interactive map and database of all homicides in Los Angeles County reported by the coroner since Jan. 1, 2007.

The City of Angeles had a banner week last week as far as confirmed kills...

It's one thing getting shot, but can you imagine how painful it is to get knifed to death....Very....

"City of Angeles" should be changed to the "Angels of Death Community." Maybe something a little more catchy....
