Gay pride parade in West Hollywood; expect traffic jams

Santa Monica Boulevard is closed between Fairfax Avenue and Doheny Drive for most of Sunday because of the L.A. Pride Parade.

The parade begins at 11 a.m. and will include dozens of floats and other entries. Sharon Osbourne and her daughter, Kelly, are the grand marshals for the 40th annual gay-pride event. California Assembly Speaker John Perez also is scheduled to attend.

With Santa Monica Boulevard closed until 6 tonight, traffic in the area is expected to be jammed.

Some other local roads will be closed, including San Vicente Boulevard, where a festival will run through 10 p.m. Visitors are urged to park at the Pacific Design Center, West Hollywood's Kings Road parking structure  and the Beverly Center.
