Man shot dead in Arleta

One person was killed in an apparent gang-related shooting Monday night in Arleta, police said.

Officers responded about 8:30 p.m. to reports of gunfire and a person on the ground in the 13500 block of Wingo Street, the Los Angeles Police Department said. Click here for an L.A. Times database of Arleta hhomicides.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the head, said Officer Karen Rayner. His name and age had not been determined.

She said that no suspects had been apprehended. Detectives were at the scene late Monday gathering evidence.

No additional details were available.

At least 10 homicides have been reported in Arleta since January 2007, according to a database compiled by The Times' Homicide Report.
