Residents are on the lookout for arsonist after spate of fires in Venice Beach area

Arson in Venice: Yo! Venice! reports that an arsonist has set several fires over the last few days in Venice Beach, including a garage, car port and fence:

Venice Beach has an active arsonist amongst us, reported to be a homeless man. Four fires have been set in four days near Rose. One was at a garage in the back alley at 405 Rose right next to DNA.

Cyrus the Great comes to Pershing Square: Los Angeles Downtown News reports that a statue of Cyrus the Great may be installed at Pershing Square. Apparently he was the first human rights advocate?

On Tuesday, May 25, the City Council's Arts, Parks, Health and Aging Committee approved a motion to accept the donation of a bronze statue of Cyrus the Great, who ruled circa 600 B.C. and was known as the first human rights advocate.

Echo Park Elysian Neighborhood Council is meeting again: The Eastsider L.A. reports that the council is back in business and swearing in new members:
