Marion 'Suge' Knight held on $65,000 bail after arrest for alleged assault with a deadly weapon [Updated]

Sugeknight[For the record, 10:27 a.m.: A previous version of this post stated incorrectly that Knight had been released on bail.]

Former rap impresario Marion “Suge” Knight was being held Thursday on $65,000 bail after his arrest by the LAPD for alleged assault with a deadly weapon, police officials said.

Knight, 45, was behind the wheel of a white Cadillac Escalade when he was pulled over at 12:30 a.m. at 147th Street and Crenshaw Boulevard in Gardena.

Investigators said they began looking for Knight after another man accused him of robbery Wednesday night. The alleged altercation occurred in South Los Angeles.

Gardena police detained him and handed him over to the LAPD for arrest. In the course of their investigation, authorities learned he was driving with a suspended license and also arrested him on that charge.

In 1997, a judge sentenced Knight to nine years in prison for violating terms of probation from an earlier assault case. He was released from prison in 2001 after serving less than five years but was sent back to jail in 2003 for violating parole when he hit a parking lot attendant.

Knight filed for bankruptcy in 2006, citing civil litigation against him. The following year, his Malibu mansion was put up for sale.

He was arrested in August 2008 in Las Vegas on charges of drug possession and aggravated assault.

In February 2009, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery. His plea allowed the dismissal of two felony drug charges and one felony coercion charge stemming from the 2008 incident.

Last year, he was implicated in the robbery of a producer for R&B singer and rapper Akon.

Boy, is this guy ever a P.O.S.

Who cares????

Jail seems like a good place for this loser

Why do they keep letting this thug back on the streets, put him away and keep him there, tigers do not change their stripes!!

The Hawthorne and Gardena PD drank Haterade all day long. I wouldn't drive through those cities in the middle of the night with a GOOD LICENSE. Racial profiling is their middle name.

Seems the Haterade helped get 'Thugalicious' off the streets. I'll drink to that! Si Se Puede!!!

Why does this man still walk the streets freely? Is he not a three-striker by now?

Why is a grown 45 year old man still acting like a stupid teenage thug? Racial profiling didn't have anything to do with his being arrested. He was turned in by someone else accusing him of robbery and he was driving with a suspended license. Excuses, excuses. How about a little dash of reality? He's a rich criminal and he could hire someone to drive him. I guess the other stupid rich people who've been arrested (Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, etc., etc.) were also racially profiled?

I'd like to say that this picture alone should get him thrown in jail!! I can't stop laughing1111

It will be interesting to see if Mr. Knight posts bail himself or enlists a bail bondsman. He declared bankruptcy a few years back as a result of being sued. However, I have the feeling he might have $65,000 cash laying around somewhere. Funny how things work out that way.

big suge would be a dream client to bail out, where could he hid out at!!
