May 19, 2010 |  8:29 am

A 12-year-old boy was injured in an apparent gang-related shooting in South L.A., police said Wednesday.

A red sedan approached the boy as he was walking on Woodlawn Avenue north of Vernon Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday, said Sgt. Dan Eun of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Newton station.

The car’s occupants apparently asked the boy where he was from and drew a weapon, Eun said.

The boy, who was shot in the right thigh, was taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center for treatment.

Eun described the suspects as five men between the ages of 18 and 30.
