L.A. County sheriff's deputy arrested in injury accident
A Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy has been arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence after authorities said she caused an accident and then left the scene.
The deputy, who was not immediately identified, was a passenger in a car when she allegedly grabbed the steering wheel and caused it to lose control about 4:25 a.m. near La Cienga Boulevard and 64th Street in unincorporated Los Angeles County, said Travis B. Ruiz, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol.
The car hit a guardrail and the driver, a woman who also was not identified, suffered minor bruises to her head, Ruiz said. The deputy left the scene, but was found later.
Both were under the influence of alcohol, but the CHP said it had no additional details, including the suspects' blood-alcohol levels.
The deputy was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence and causing injuries. The driver also was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
