Woman found shot dead in Hollywood [updated]
Police detectives were investigating the death of a woman who was found dead from a gunshot wound to the back of the head inside her parked vehicle Friday night in Hollywood.
Patrol officers were sent around 8:30 p.m. to the 5800 block of Lexington Avenue in the Little Armenia area to investigate a possible death, said Officer April Harding of the Los Angeles Police Department. When officers arrived, they discovered the woman, who was in her 30s, Harding said.
No further details were available.
[Updated at 11:30 a.m.: Since January 2007, L.A. County coroner's officials have reported at least 20 homicides within one mile of the 5800 block of Lexington Avenue, according to data collected for The Times' interactive Homicide Report.]

I wonder if this is still more spillover from the shooting in Los Feliz last week near Franklin and Hillhurst. If there is some sort of Armenian gang struggle for turf, it could get pretty ugly before it is settled. Unless it is an internecine struggle between Latino and Armenian gangs, which is probably unlikely.

Armenia & Russia are now the Middle East ?
Wow ! Who knew....

I have noticed that the Russian Armenian group to be the more crime driven element of the Armenian sects. I may be mistaken but that just has been my impression.

More details please...is it really gang related or is there something else going on?

Who said this woman was Armenian? This area around hollywood also has lots of mexicans living in the area. It's also the area where all the transexual latino prostitutes work.

I did not know that Armenian and Russian were middle eastern. Thanks for telling me I wasted all those years in School working on a Masters degree in Geography, believing that they are eastern European.
Wow thanks for enlightening me.

@jaysunb
Yes, I think that you will find that the Middle East was (in part) relocated during the last administration.

Los Angeles is a problem. An overpopulated nightmare under the leadership of the idiotic Villaraigosa. After graduating from the unaccredited People's College of Law, Antonio Villaraigosa never passed the bar after failing the bar exam four times. He still is not a lawyer. He is the "leader" of Los Angeles... a total incompetent.

Could this be related to the woman who was murdered in the area last week by a gunshot to her head? She'd been sitting at a bus stop, and even her boyfriend apparently didn't realize that she was shot when she slumped over. It's very frightening to me that murder seems to be so easy to commit and get away with in such a central area of LA.

Although that area is technically in the Little Armenia neighborhood it is primarily a Latin neighborhood. The local gangs are La Mirada and Mara Salvatrucha, and a few others.

Have you eaten at Zankou chicken? They've had a fatal family feud and the son killed the sister and mother. I'm not sure why I'm even bringing this up????

MadPuss, you're a racist. you're obviously missing all the crime WHITE PEOPLE born in the US cause in the country.
"they're a very violent group of people those middle easterners."
let me remind you something, the people who go to war with two countries for no reason (afghanistan, iraq) are violent, not the country that hasn't attacked anyone (armenia) and has had 1.5Million killed in genocide, get a clue and take a course, racist.

I submitted a comment regarding this shooting possibly being related with a shooting in the area of about a week ago where a woman was shot in the head while at a bus stop. It hasn't been posted yet, why not?

Los Angeles Times has dropped the ball on this story. Other news outlets are reporting that this is the same lady that lost her husband and 9 year old daughter to murder in December 2008. L.A. Times still has not reported this information.

That area of Hollywood was starting to attract armenians more that 16 years ago. St. Garabed Armenian Apostolic Church was built in 1978.
