Smithsonian says it doesn't want O.J. Simpson's suit

The Smithsonian Museum says it doesn't want the suit O.J. Simpson wore when he was acquitted of murder charges -- scuttling a compromised reached Monday in the long-running custody case.
"The Smithsonian's National Museum of American History will not be collecting O.J. Simpson's suit," the museum said in a statement. "The decision was made by the museum's curators together with the director."
Fred Goldman, Ron's father, filed the lawsuit against Simpson and his former agent, Mike Gilbert, who allegedly has possession of the suit. In 1997, a civil jury found Simpson liable for the two deaths and ordered him to pay $33.5 million to the victims’ relatives. Fred Goldman is still trying to collect the money.
On Monday, Gilbert and Goldman agreed to donate the suit to the Smithsonian Institution. It's unclear what will happen to the suit now.
Simpson, 62, is in jail, serving time for a botched robbery in Las Vegas to allegedly retrieve some of his personal sports memorabilia.

OK, so maybe OJ is guilty- does that warrant having ones image and accomplishments being extinguished for all time? If we're adding up crimes of the famous, then well, let's remove the 'insurgents and terrorists, colonizers and usurpers' named Washington and Jackson from our currency. The pettiness of the Goldman's is appalling (stealing someones very image? Suing over a suit?), and since the trial, the pervasive odor of racism has been lost on no one that's not White. It's akin to Napoleon shooting off the nose and full lips of the sphinx to erase African influence from history. Attempting to make someone a non-person is more troubling than a legal not guilty verdict. Has anyone ever been acquited of a murder then be civily charged with "Causing the person's death" after not being proven to have killed them or causing another to do so? America does not wear crucifixion well.
