Schwarzenegger rejects deficit-reduction plan

March 16, 2010 | 11:29 am

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced Tuesday he will reject another key piece of the deficit-reduction package approved by lawmakers earlier this year.

The governor said in a letter to legislative leaders Tuesday morning that their plan to cut public transit is inadequate. The Legislature's plan would preserve some funding for public transit in the coming year. Schwarzenegger wants funding eliminated entirely.

Shane Goldmacher has the details in The Times' PolitiCal blog.
