Car owned by actor Charlie Sheen plunges over cliff on Mulholland Drive [Updated]
A car that plunged down the side of Mulholland Drive on Friday morning is owned by actor Charlie Sheen, who reported the vehicle stolen, authorities said.
Sheen called police about 5:15 a.m. to report a possible burglar on the premises of his Sherman Oaks home, said Los Angeles police Officer Bruce Borihanh.
“That’s a hot prowl -- as in, ‘I think there’s someone in my garage,’” Borihanh said.
The car, a Mercedes four-door sedan, was found 300 feet to 400 feet down near the 13300 block of Mulholland Drive in Beverly Crest, said LAPD Det. Bill Bustos.
Police and fire crews found the car badly damaged just after 4 a.m., but no one was found in or around it. A search was ongoing.
Nothing else from Sheen's home was reported stolen, Borihanh said. The Mercedes was likely taken before the burglary was reported, Borihanh said.
[Updated at 8:17 a.m.: A law enforcement source familiar with the investigation says that based on a preliminary review, it appears Sheen’s car was stolen after the actor left it in the open garage with the keys inside.]

His car was found at 4:00 a.m. and he calls police at 5:15 am. and says i think someone is in my garage?!?! And he left his garage door open with the keys in the ignition?!?! c'mon...does he really believe that we are going to believe this nonsense...this sounds about as accurate as the tiger woods police report.

Obviously Charlie Sheen ran the car off the road and then reported it stolen when he got home. This would explain the timeline. He was either drunk or stoned. Not too hard to figure out. Case closed.

Ok, so he reports the car stolen at 5:15am but the cops find the car at 4:00am. I don't believe him. It sounds like he crashed the car and when home and reported it stolen. If he did not crash the car then someone he let drive it crashed the car. He probably was drunk. He’s lucky he did not kill himself.

a drunk sheen went off the road and managed to walk away.
can you say "false police report" charlie?

"Car owned by actor Charlie Sheen plunges over cliff on Mulholland Drive"
Um, what is this... TMZ!? You guys tried to make it sound like he was in it! Just say "Stolen car owned by..."
Ah, 'sensational' journalism, typical.

I agree with the cynics.
There was alcohol involved here, as usual with this character.
I hope he is made to reimburse the fire and police departments for the time they wasted chasing the "prowler" and recovering his car.

C'mon Charlie!!! Get it together!!! The drama that is surrounding your life is of your own doing, including this incident. You clean up your act, or your future can only have a tragic ending....Is that what you want?

I agree with xrich - timeline is skewed - does sound Tigerish......

I find it very interesting that he called to report a break in at 5:15AM and that the car was found at 4AM. Shouldn't he have heard the break in around 4AM?
Isn't it also very interesting that the car was crashed so near his home. Curiouser and Curiouser said Alice...

Does anyone know if Mercedes uses Toyota's drive by wire technology in their sedans? Just askin'....

Here's how it played out...he comes home drunk, leaves the garage open with keys in car, wakes up on the bathroom floor around 5am and realizes that he did that, sees his car is gone and then calls the cops saying he thinks someone is in the garage.

Now, when some people can't make payments the conveniently leave the keys in the car but usually right over the border in Mexico. I know Sheen wouldn't do that but it does sound fishy.

It took Charlie one hour to crawl up the hill, dust himself off, walk home and call the cops TO REPORT HIS CAR WAS "STOLEN". All in that order.
ADVISE TO CHARLIE SHEEN: GET A LIFE !!!!!!!!!!!

Um, um, um Charlie this might be a tough one if LAPD puts a veteran Detective on the case.
