Student detained for allegedly bringing guns onto Alhambra school campus

January 6, 2010 |  5:04 pm

A high school student is expected to be booked by Alhambra police for investigation of weapons possession this afternoon after he was found with two handguns on campus, a department spokesman said.

Alhambra Police Sgt. Brandon Black said the department received a call around 1:35 p.m. that a student was seen at Mark Keppel High School with a gun.

An unidentified male student was detained after school officials found he had a gun, Black said. Alhambra police arrived a short time later, and a further search with police dogs turned up a second weapon in the boy's backpack.

The school was placed on lock-down after the discovery of the first weapon. Police are searching all the classrooms to make sure there were no additional weapons.
