San Diego rain: Sea World closes for the day, Southwest Airlines suspends flights at Lindbergh Field

January 21, 2010 | 11:24 am

Sea World, the top tourist attraction in San Diego, closed today because of rain, marking the first time since 1998 that the marine park has had to shut its doors because of inclement weather.

Sea World officials said attendance had dropped below normal levels for this time of year in the last few days. They said they expect to reopen at 10 a.m. Friday.

Meantime, Southwest Airlines has suspended all flights in and out of Lindbergh Field, the international airport in San Diego. Officials at the airport’s major carrier hope to restart flights this afternoon at the earliest.
