Man accused of stalking Ryan Seacrest faces court hearing

January 19, 2010 |  7:39 am

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for today for a man who authorities say has a history of stalking “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest.

According to prosecutors, the suspect lurked around Seacrest's radio studio and TV studio.

Chidi Benjamin Uzomah Jr. faces one felony count of stalking Seacrest as well as two misdemeanor counts of attempted disobeying of a court order. If convicted on all counts, he faces up to four years in state prison.

Uzomah, 25, was arrested last year at the E! building in the 5700 block of Wilshire Boulevard, where Seacrest tapes a daily TV show. Uzomah already pleaded guilty in September to attacking Seacrest’s security guard outside an Orange County hospital and was ordered to stay away from the radio and TV host.

Authorities said Uzomah appeared Oct. 2 at radio station KIIS-FM (102.7) in Burbank, looking for Seacrest.
