Anaheim police arrest man in death of 84-year-old woman

Anaheim police arrested a 25-year-old man tonight in connection with the killing of an 84-year-old woman found dead in her house.

Police arrested Anthony Wade of Anaheim in Highland around 7:30 p.m., said Sgt. Rick Martinez. Wade was booked on suspicion of murder at the Anaheim Detention Facility. Martinez said he expects Wade’s bail amount to be around $1 million.

Wade was detained in San Bernardino County this morning after he caused a disturbance at a supermarket in Highland, Martinez said. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies discovered that the car he was driving was registered to an address in Anaheim. When Anaheim police went to check on the address, in the 2400 block of Paradise Road, they discovered the woman, who appeared to have been the victim of a homicide, Martinez said.

Police have not yet established a motive, Martinez said. “We don’t know if he knows this woman. We don’t know why he would have murdered her.  There are a lot of unanswered questions right now.”
