101 Freeway reopens

January 15, 2010 |  7:28 am

The westbound Ventura Freeway, which was closed early this morning as firefighters dealt with a three-car accident in Encino, has reopened.

A crash closed the westbound 101 Freeway at White Oak Avenue shortly after 6 a.m., jamming the morning commute through the San Fernando Valley into Los Angeles. Firefighters extricated people trapped in their vehicles but information about injuries was unavailable, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Traffic on the westbound lanes was backed up for miles, and officials were suggesting drivers consider alternative routes including Ventura Boulevard.
