Yorba Linda man charged with drugging, raping women he met on MySpace

December 11, 2009 | 10:09 am

A Yorba Linda man charged with drugging and raping at least two women he met on MySpace pleaded not guilty today to three counts of rape, Orange County authorities said.

Jason Ara Erpinar, 20, is charged with two counts of using drugs to commit rape and one count of forcible rape with a sentencing enhancement for sex crimes against multiple victims, the Orange County district attorney's office said in a statement.

Court records allege Erpinar met an 18-year-old woman on MySpace and contacted her by phone and e-mail, inviting her to a party in March in La Habra. Erpiner allegedly raped her in a bathroom at the party after incapacitating her with a drug, according to the district attorney's office.

He also is accused of raping a 22-year-old woman in a Newport Beach hotel in March 2008 after meeting her on the website and giving her a date-rape drug. The woman woke up the following day with a cracked tooth and scraped face, prosecutors said.

His third alleged victim was his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend, whom he was accused of raping numerous times between August 2006 and October 2007. Erpinar was charged in 2007 with assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm and battery against a cohabitant.

Erpinar was charged last year with burglary and receiving stolen property for allegedly stealing a purse, wallet, computer equipment and video games from a friend's house in 2008 after he was asked to leave the friend's party, prosecutors said. He allegedly gave the stolen goods to another friend, prosecutors said.

Erpinar faces a maximum sentence of 45 years to life in prison if convicted. He is being held on $1-million bail. The district attorney’s office is asking the public to help in identifying potential victims.

Anyone with information is asked to contact district attorney investigator Tim Craig at (714) 347-8558.
