Teen charged with setting 2 Yucaipa-area wildfires

December 24, 2009 |  7:10 am

Yucaipa A 16-year-old boy was charged with setting two wildfires in the Yucaipa area that burned more than 1,000 acres earlier this year.

Ricky Sean Lukacs was charged as an adult by the San Bernardino County district attorney's office.

Officials said Lukacs was initially suspected in a string of fires in the area. At the time, authorities said it was odd to have a large number of fires in a small area, suggesting that someone in the area might be setting them.

Lukacs was arrested after witnesses saw him riding his bike away from a fire that had just started in the Crofton Hills area.

The fires prompted evacuations, but no one was hurt.
