The 34-year-old victim was expected to survive, he said.

The 10100 block of South Vermont Avenue, where the incident occurred, was closed to traffic for more than two hours as authorities searched for the suspect.

The victim, whose name was not given, was transported to a hospital in stable condition. The shooting is not believed to be gang-related, Baek said.
