LAPD Chief-Designate Beck to appear at Mar Vista town hall

November 9, 2009 |  9:47 pm

Residents on the Westside will have an opportunity to question Charlie Beck, the LAPD chief designate, at a community forum Tuesday evening in Mar Vista.

The forum will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Mar Vista Recreation Center, 11430 Woodbine Avenue, officials said tonight.

Beck will be joined by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Councilman Bill Rosendahl, whose Westside district includes Mar Vista.

Beck, 56, a 32-year LAPD veteran, was unanimously confirmed today by the City Council's Public Safety Committee. He must still be approved by the full council, which is expected hold a vote next week.
