L.A. County sheriff's deputy shot in Lawndale

November 3, 2009 | 11:06 pm
A Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputy was apparently shot in the back, and a suspect may also be wounded after gunfire broke out tonight in Lawndale, authorities said.

The shooting occurred about 10:30 p.m. near 168th Street and Prairie Avenue near the 405 Freeway, the Sheriff's Department said.

The condition of the deputy was not known, the department said. Investigators were at the scene trying to determine what happened.

Thats strange? the shooting went the other way!

Waiting for the first anti-cop posting. I hope the deputy recovers quickly.

Any other details?

Deputy is fine. Suspect Dead.

A typical LA Times article, when a deputy/officer is shot, three small paragraphs and no follow-up. Had the deputy not been shot, the Times would have been all over this like they did to Inglewood. Glad to hear (from another news source) that the deputy will be okay.
