November 2, 2009 |  7:04 am

All lanes have been cleared on the northbound 405 Freeway in Sherman Oaks after a car overturned early this morning, leaving one person in critical condition and forcing three lanes of traffic to be shut down.

The accident occurred at 1:08 a.m. just south of Ventura Boulevard,  CHP Officer Francisco Villalobos said. One person was taken to UCLA Medical Center in critical condition, he said.

The cause of the accident was under investigation. A SigAlert was issued at about 2 a.m. and was lifted about four hours later.

I got on the freeway at about 1:50am last night and it was nuts. those old sayings that the 405 was a parking lot were really coming true as people were literally parking their cars for almost two and a half hours. by the time the CHP started flowing the traffic again it was bottle-necked to one lane and took several minutes to empty the crowded lanes that even filled the shoulder. one unlucky motorist's car broke down right in the middle of the crowd and had to be rushed to the side before more traffic could be let through. also there was one small accident where someone rear ended another as he didn't brake fast enough. over all it was a crazy night and i didnt get home to studio city till 3:00am
