2 killed in shooting at Cathedral City rental car agency [Updated]

Two men are dead and another wounded in an apparent murder-suicide this morning in a Cathedral City rental car showroom, police said.

[Updated at 2:14 p.m.: This post has been updated throughout to reflect the latest information.]

The shooting occurred at 10:29 a.m. in the showroom of Luxury Rent-A-Car in the 68300 block of East Palm Canyon Drive when a gunman opened fire, said Lt. Glen Haas of the Cathedral City Police Department.

There is a preliminary motive, but Hass declined to comment further because the investigation is ongoing.

“The evidence at the scene and the interviews lead us to believe that the shooter was probably one of the fatalities,” he said.
