Two Highland Park neighbors killed in knife fight

Two Highland Park neighbors are dead after a late-night argument turned into a knife fight, police said today.

Two men in their mid-30s had been drinking, and about 3 a.m. a dispute turned physical and one of the men stabbed the other with a knife, said Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The survivor went back to his house on the 100 block of East Avenue 45. A third man, believed to be a friend of the victim, stabbed the first man in an apparent revenge killing, Eisenman said.

The third man is still at large. The identities of the three have not been released.

Why? Why do people believe that violence will solve anything? So tragic.

Nobody wins a knife fight.

I'm so glad booze is legal but pot is not.

"Why do people believe that violence will solve anything?"

Is two less violent drunks amongst us a bad thing?

The true warrior way...

what a couple idiots

I am confused. Did the fight occur at night or in the morning? Did the first victim have a knife as well? This would make a difference because, if he didn't, then I don't think it should be characterized as a knife fight. Now, we know that the dead guy's friend had used a knife, but are we sure that the survivor of the first fight had a knife as well at the time of the second fight? If not, then that fight would not be a knife fight as well. They would both be fights, where one of the fighters (in each case) had a knife. I think the corrected score would be Knife guys - two, Knifeless guys - zero.

ching-ching ni? is that the sound of the knife fight, or the name of the person who wrote the article?

whatever, this is a classic case of natural selection.

So, does this mean that we will soon have legislation banning knives, and that no guns were used? Highland Park is a wasteland infested with drugs, poverty, crime, Mexican Mafia, gangs...A fatal stabbing in that area and that's news?

I can't wait for the third guy to stabbed next!

The only reason anyone should use a knife would be in cases of self-defense. The area is known for gang activity, thus the use of lethal force is sometimes necessary if not mandatory.

The Times continues to avoid publishing suspect descriptions, in felony murder cases, no less.

who says this has anything to do with gang activity? to make such generalizations based on logistics is lame. maybe they were carving pumpkins.

Wow!.. I get reminded of the brain void of Angelenos when I read these comments... I'll be in LA tonight, that's scary...

In a word, Darwin.

All murders are a felony. Felony murder refers to a murder or death that happens during the commission of a felony, i.e. a person dies during a bank robber, a car jacking, etc. Now that we have that cleared up, why is it for you that the fine citizens of Highland Park any less important or less deserving of media attention than those who live in other parts of this fine city? Oy.

Is Highland Park now dominated by Mexicans (Greasers), Asians (Chinos), or traditional urban blacks?? Please let me know the demographics, because your three suspects and the stabbing victum are likely all the same race and gender.

Nobody wins a knife fight.

Except the guy who brought a gun.....

Time and time again.......
Remember this please......
"Nothing good happens after midnight"
well, unless you are getting laid of course...

This is a perfect example for the case to legalize Marijuana. If these three knife wielding party animals had been hitting the bong, rather than the bottle; all three would have been blissfully asleep at the time of this occurrence. How many late night knife fights must Los Angelenos endure before the clarity of the obvious be realized. Please, get off your Yoga mats and write your congressmen & women to legalize and tax this wonderful gift of planet Earth. That's assuming that none of the three aforementioned individuals are your congressional representatives.

I think it is very insensitive of the L.A. Times to allow anonymous cowards to post insensitive comments mocking dead people. The L.A. Times has really sunk to new lows.

I'm a half full type of guy. It's three less people the kids have to worry about when trick or treating tonight. Safety first!

Typical Highland Park act of gang stupidity. No news here.

Now if only we can get all Gangs members in LA to use a knife as a weapon of choice instead of guns.
