Thousands in L.A. still without power as storm starts to move on

About 8,675 customers were without power this afternoon across Los Angeles as the Pacific storm that hit the region began to leave.

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power said 50 crews were working in the affected areas. Crews had already restored electricity to about 47,800 other customers who lost power after the storm hit Southern California.

As of 2 p.m, 2,575 customers were without power in the Crenshaw area, and 1,360 had no electricity in Sherman Oaks. In South L.A., 1,180 residents had lost their power, according to the DWP.  In Venice, where blackouts hit some neighborhoods last night, 620 customers were still without power this afternoon.

In all, the DWP provides electricity to 1.4 million customers.
