Police arrest one man, search for another in Valley grocery store robberies

October 8, 2009 |  9:36 am

One man was arrested this morning and Los Angeles police are searching for another in connection with at least half a dozen grocery store robberies in the San Fernando Valley, authorities said.

Officers were making an investigative stop of two men near Riverside Drive and Fulton Avenue in Sherman Oaks about 5:40 a.m. when they suddenly bolted. One man was taken into custody, and the other fled into the neighborhood, prompting police to set up a perimeter to search for him.

As a precaution, nearby Notre Dame High School and Riverside Elementary School were placed on temporary lockdown, police said.
