Man pleads guilty to raping, murdering 93-year-old woman

A convicted rapist pleaded guilty Tuesday to raping and murdering a 93-year-old woman more than 18 years ago, prosecutors said.

Albert Rodriguez Salinas, 47, was already serving a three-year prison sentence for another rape when he was linked to the long-unsolved case though DNA evidence.

Soo Hoo Quon was discovered April 12, 1991, on the floor of her apartment in El Sereno by an employee delivering breakfast to her.

As part of a plea agreement, Salinas will receive life in prison without the possibility of parole, prosecutors said.

3 year sentence in prior rape case? Something is very wrong with the system. No wonder there is so many crime.

The murderer gets life and the victim gets death. Gotta love modern American justice.

So true KK. 3 years for rape is disgusting! where is the outrage for our sentencing laws?? seems more people care about punishing the balloon boy's parents than they do about punishing rapists and molestors!

Well, this ruined my day.

I hope everybody in the joint finds out what he did. Then the real sentencing will take place.

Why is someone sentenced to only 3 years in a rape case? Judges should be removed from office if they let pedifiles and rapists out at all!

3 years for a rape is a joke......!!!
A rape is something very traumatic for a female and can lead to many other issues. Psychological damage and maybe even pregnancy and divorced. There needs to be a way stiffer sentence than 3 years...! What are these district attorneys thinking?? Whatever politician who enforced such penalty should be raped himself!! Because obviously it wasn't a female..!!

If he is an illegal will this rape convictions, hurt his chances for amnesty?
I sure hope so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope they find out what he did in prison too. He should have got the death sentence for raping and murdering a 93 year old woman. At least now he is locked away forever.

He might be paroled when the prison population is reduced because of the California budget!

Raping and murdering a 93-year-old woman? That's beyond sick. And then this man was serving only 3 years for yet another rape? I hope there's a special place in hell for rapists, murderers, and molesters, because there certainly isn't any true justice in the American justice system.

I think to go after him for soemthing that supposedly occured 2 decades ago speaks about the anti-immigrant hysteria that we face. Stay strong Albert.

This man's behavior was beyond inexcusable plain and simple! And the last poster's comment just shows how many ignorant people there are in this world. The point here is that an innocent women was heinously abused and murdered. This has nothing to do with anti-immigrant hysteria. The women herself was probably an immigrant. Ridiculous.
