Gunman sought after shooting six people outside Rosemead bar [Update]

October 2, 2009 |  7:52 am

A search is underway for a gunman who shot and wounded six people outside a Rosemead bar, Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said today.

Deputies were dispatched about 1:30 a.m. to Garvey and Muscatel avenues where they found six gunshot victims outside of the Casa Latina bar, said Sgt. Tri Hoang.  The unidentified victims included males and females and their injuries varied from minor to serious, he said.

“The victims are being treated at various hospitals in the area,” Hoang said. “At this time we have no report of any fatalities.” [For the record: An earlier version of this post misspelled Sgt. Tri Hoang's last name as Hang.]

The Los Angeles County Fire Department said paramedics transported five people to hospitals and one was taken by a private vehicle. Their conditions were not immediately available.

At least two of the victims were taken to trauma centers, fire officials said.

Authorities are not sure what triggered the shooting. The investigation is ongoing, Hang said.

Six people shot outside a bar.

This is the best you can do?

Weak. Mucho weak.

Si Mucho Weako

Another day of Gang violence eating up America. 20 years from now half the population will be gangs.

Yeah, call us when they hit double figures.

There could defintely be more coverage on this. I live in the area and feel I could be more informed.

This was for some crappy album release party. One of my friends was invited to this event, but she took a pass. Thank God, she had no idea what type of environment she was being invited to.

I, with no bad intentions, rode through the crime scene on my bike not knowing what was going on. A Rosemead Sheriff deputy stopped and spoke to me very unprofessionally, with foul language, as I rode through. He wanted another deputy to give me a ticket but he let me go after I explained my mistake. No matter what happened there I believe there is no excuse to talk to citizens that way.

there goes the prison population^up,and does these people have CHLs (concealed handgun licenses) ?everyone in california is carrying guns without them, why not issue them to qualifying persons and watch these types of acts decline like in places like TEXAS , if you pull one he might pull one, check mate, why must unarmed people be shot by the armed, and it won't stop.Reagen stop the right to bear arms in california now look who has the guns the wrong people!

It's Rosemead. Who cares? Let them kill each other.

R.Evans, how do you know the guy that did the shooting didn't have the gun legally?
How do you know if everyone else had a gun they could all shoot perfectly and only hit the gunman?
You seem like you don't think a lot of things through. Do you have a concealed gun permit?

Let me guess, Mexicans?

Authorities are not sure what triggered the shooting, no stuff. They probably won't ever figure out what started this if no one talks which I expect to happen. This sounds gang or drug related.
