Brawley Nolte, 'Ransom' actor and Nick Nolte's son, arrested on suspicion of DUI

Brawley Nolte, the son of actor Nick Nolte, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Santa Monica, police said.

The arrest occurred Tuesday afternoon on Pacific Coast Highway, according to the Santa Monica Police Department. Nolte, who as a child actor played a role in the film "Ransom," was arrested after making a lane change and striking another vehicle, police said.

Nolte was taken into custody after taking field sobriety tests.

Police did not say what controlled substance Nolte is accused of taking. Neither he nor his attorney could be reached for comment.

In "Ransom," Nolte played Mel Gibson's kidnapped son.

The apple never seems to fall too far away from the tree....does it?

How is this news, let alone worth of getting to placement on the Times homepage.

And if you say its because people click it to read and get served ads lemme tell you I cliked, saw no ads and immediately scrolled down to leave this message.

Well, Al of OC, if the apple doesn't fall far from the tree as you snarkily opine, then rest assured that means Brawley will complete all terms of this arrest and court orders - just like Dad - and he'll embrace sobriety - just like Dad.
Give it a rest, enjoying the pain of others doesn't get you very far and actually makes more of a statement about YOU than the ones you try to make fun of.
I hope that Brawley pulls out of this incident and recognizes the value of what surrounds him. May he find whatever eludes him and drives him to self medicate, endangering others and destroying relationships. I don't want to sound like I'm cheerleading solely for this individual, I truly wish that drugs and alcohol didn't present such an escape for so many among us. More than anything, I wish that all parents would value their children above choosing self destructive actions.

Sorry, but you sound like a cheerleader. The guy likes to drink, so what.

I'm tired of folks who portray these criminals as victimes -- while they're putting their lives and mine at risk. Sure, there seems to be a genetic link that may contribute to substance abuse. But let's not forget that there may be environmental reasons as well. And, ultimately, there's this thing called personal responsibility.

Must be nice to be drunk on a Tuesday afternoon!

Thank you Mary, for that post. He indeed has some personal issues that I too ,pray he gets help with and willingly changes what I'm sure you'd agree are destructive behavior, before it results in irreversible damage/harm to himself and/or anyone else. Unfortunately, for far too many here in LA the activities they comsume themselves with, can have devastating consequences.

Funny... this guy actually totalled my Prius on the PCH this past Feburary; annoying to see that he's done it again (though truth to tell, he didn't seem drunk when he ran into my parked car). This situation seems quite similar otherwise though.

Well considering that he did the exact same thing in February and it resulted in my sister's car being totaled and her nearly being killed, I don't have a lot of sympathy for the guy. He should really sober up and stop making crazy moves on the PHC!
