Los Angeles police shoot and wound a woman in Los Feliz

Ois Los Angeles police shot and wounded a woman this morning in the Los Feliz area while responding to a radio call, authorities said.

The officers arrived near the intersection of Mariposa and Franklin avenues shortly after 7 a.m. and were confronted by the woman, who may have threatened them, LAPD Sgt. Fernando Carrasco said. One of the officers shot the woman twice in the abdomen.

She was taken to the hospital and was conscious at the time, Carrasco said. No officer was injured.

The shooting is under investigation.
