Baby, 4 months old, fatally shot in Van Nuys

POORBABY

A 4-month-old infant boy was fatally shot in Van Nuys early this morning in an attack that also wounded a man and a pregnant woman, a Los Angeles Police official said.

Anna Contreras, 28, was feeding Andrew Garcia inside a car parked in front of what police described as a gang party in the 14300 block of Kittridge Street, Officer Norma Eisenman said. The child's parents were standing nearby with a group of people.

Two suspects began arguing with the group about 1 a.m.  One of the two fired a shotgun six times and both fled on foot, Eisenman said. Eric Ramirez, 18, who was standing near the car, was shot, along with Contreras and the infant.

Contreras, who is pregnant, and the infant were transported to UCLA Medical Center, where the baby died shortly afterward. Contreras was in stable condition. Ramirez walked to nearby Valley Presbyterian Hospital. The relationship among the victims and suspects is not known.

Tragedy...but what is a four month baby doing out at 1:00 am?
Personal Accountability begins with the parents as well as the person who shot the kid.

May the shooter burn in hell a million x a million times for killing the 4 month old baby. Reading about this shows just how crazy this country has become. Too bad the recent gang sweep by the police didn't pickup the moron shooter.

Wow ! How amazing but not suprising is this sad storie!?!? The evil that men do, never does it fall short of hiddious. The filth that bleeds from the souls of these animals. To shoot a shotgun at a group of people who cant shoot back. To murder a child. Society is in a state of a melt down. From wars abroad to street wars right at home. The devil is running loose on the streets. Prepare my friends. The ride only gets worse. The iggnorence of generation after generation. The worst part is there isnt a cure for this. Not prison not law not anything. War is here and more war is coming.

This is why there should be a license with required parenting classes before a person can have a baby....

Personal Accountability? Are you serious? People are killing each other in the streets! These neighboorhoods - I seem to hear Kittridge often - are a cancer on Los Angeles. Needless killing - If I had my way I find all these gang members and skin them alive.

Anna Contreras needs to be held accountable for two counts of child endagerment. Who brings their infant, while pregnant, to a gang party at 1:00 AM ?

The child's parents need to be tried with child endagerment. Who would bring their infant to a gang party at 1:00 AM ?

Child Endargerment?? Are you guys serious?? You should know facts before making idiotic comments.

The baby in the picture has an angelic face.

in that neighborhood, even if you're in your house you're not entirely safe from stray bullets....but don't INVITE danger by hanging outside in a car with your 4 month old at 1AM!!!! That's crazy, but that's ghetto people, so I'm not surprised.

I don't think there's anything "idiotic" with saying that the parents should be held responsible if they did bring that child to that party and it can be shown they knew what kind of party it was (that it was 1 a.m. doesn't speak well of them, anyway). That woudn't make them AS responsible as the trash who pulled the trigger, but it would mean they put the child into the line of fire. The possiblity of violence at a gang event is a no-brainer.

Our legal system is a joke - take a guess why there is no gang problem in china (yep, they just kill them)

He's in a better place but soon we'll all be together again someday......
my condolences goes to the Garcia family. May he REST IN PEACE.
