Four traveling in a convertible are killed in Palmdale car crash
Four people riding in a convertible were killed in a car crash in Palmdale, the California Highway Patrol said today.
Stephen Nubani, 22, was driving a gold Audi A4 north on 70th Street East at about 10:15 p.m. Saturday when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of 70th and Avenue N, according to a CHP statement. The convertible was struck by a Cadillac Deville that was heading eastbound.
Both vehicles flipped over. All four passengers in the Audi were killed. Nubani, the only victim not wearing a seat belt, was a resident of Hollywood, and the three passengers – Rylan Jernigan, 18; Araceli Alvarez, 19; and Cesar Chunga, 22 – were from Palmdale, the CHP statement said.
The Cadillac was driven by Kirk Pitts, 44, of Littlerock, who suffered a broken ankle and fractured femur and was transported to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.

An unfortunate incident for Kirk Pitts; a deserving result for Stephen Nubani

I'm sorry my prayers go to their families. A.V is growing quick, we need more stops with lights not just signs that sometimes you can't see in the day time.Long stretches without any signs and some that do it's deseiving to say the least.Again sorry for their lost,so young. I hope the other driver can continue with his life as normal as he can.

I'm just shocked. One of my first friends in high school. But he's in better hands now. Words can't explain this lost, especially one of a young life that just started blooming.

Rylan and Cesar ( Andres ) as we knew him..They were friends of the family . Rylan lived across the street from us, A very positive young man. He loved talking about his future, Rylan had so many dreams for his future. If you happened to be outside and he saw you, Rylan would say " Hi " or just come over and start talking to you.. more likely you would even get a Hug from him.. Rylan or Rj as we knew him...you were loved by many friends.

Rylan Jernigan was a friend of the family. He, along with his dad, brother and sister had been our neighbor for the past five years. Rylan will be greatly missed by his family and friends. With a tender heart and bright smile, Rylan was always in a chipper mood. I would occasionally see him late at night when I would be coming home from work or class. I could always expect a friendly hello wave from him no matter the time.
I saw Rylan two nights before he passed. It was late and I had just gotten home from work. He was about to wash his dad’s truck when he saw me and jogged across the street to my parents driveway to say hello and give me a hug. We caught up on school and with another hug said good night.
May he rest in peace. My condolences go out to his parents and siblings.

Rylan was a fantastic young man who was full of life and had everything going for him. He was the type of man that stood up for those who could not do so for themselves and would do anything to help someone whether he knew them or not. Rylan...you will be missed always. I will always keep you in my heart. Love your Uncle Kevin
